Empowering Individuals with Disabilities Through Employment
RISE Services, Inc. Utah is happy to celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month. We believe everyone is employable and deserves a chance to live full and self-sufficient lives. Our employment specialists support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) through each step of the employment process. Our employment services create job opportunities for and with people, leading adults with IDDs toward meaningful and sustaining employment.
Life Skills Restoration
When adults living with IDDs want to pursue employment, we believe having a job in their community begins with learning how to work independently at home and work. Independence looks different for each person but typically requires similar skills and abilities, including resume creation, communication skills, worksite acclamation, meal preparation, time management, and other needs specific to each participant.
Supported Employment
Adults living with more severe disabilities may require one-on-one support while preparing for employment in their community. Our supported employment program funds and supports long-term and ongoing job support to prepare individuals with IDDs to work well with others in integrated employment settings.
Customized Employment
Traditional employment can be challenging for adults living with disabilities. Our customized employment module consists of different strategies, services, and supports designed to increase employment options for job seekers with complex needs. We create a customized job search blueprint that addresses the needs and challenges of participants and any accommodations that can help them successfully find and maintain a job.
Training & Coaching
Almost every newly hired employee, including adults living with disabilities, requires job training and coaching. We provide personalized ongoing coaching by guiding the individual as they perform essential tasks, supporting them according to their needs, and helping them understand the overall goals of the job.
Supported Job-Based Training
Sometimes, job-seeking individuals with IDDs need short-term support as they apply for and are hired for new positions. Once hired, we review job expectations and responsibilities and train newly hired participants during working hours. As employees become more confident in performing the varied aspects of their jobs, we slowly decrease the amount of training until they can confidently perform all aspects of their employment.
