Opportunity Center Events & Activities for 2024

RISE Services, Inc. Utah offers our participants several fun, festive, and one-of-a-kind activities. This year, we have many events planned, such as sports games, seasonal events, outdoor activities, and more. We do our best to offer a wide range of exciting adventures, both big and small, for our participants to learn, grow, and have fun. Let’s take a look at some of what we have planned this year at our Utah Opportunity Centers.

Draper & West Jordan

In addition to monthly Birthday Bash parties, there are several engaging monthly celebrations and activities at our Draper and West Jordan locations, including:

• March: “Get Ready for Spring” gardening activity and St. Patrick’s Day Party and Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt
• April: Easter Party and Easter Egg Hunt, Earth Day volunteer activities, and Spring Dance 
• May: Star Wars party to celebrate May 4th, Mother’s Day activities, and Memorial Day BBQ
• June: Festivals, movies, swimming activities, and several planned events, including a Summer Launch BBQ and Hawaiian Luau
• August: End of Summer Talent Show
• September: Utah State Fair
• October: Halloween Event
• November: Thanksgiving Celebration
• December: Christmas and New Year’s Celebration

Vernal & Roosevelt

Each month at our Vernal and Roosevelt Opportunity Centers, individuals participate in several group get-togethers and community happenings, such as:

• Going out to restaurants for dinner
• Enjoying the bowling alley
• Going shopping
• Visiting the library
• Attending ceramic painting classes
• Hosting talent shows

Our favorite annual event every February is “Night to Shine,” sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. This evening is a full-fledged Prom with a red carpet, limo rides, dancing, dinner, and more. Attendees are addressed as Kings and Queens throughout the night and can have their hair, nails, and makeup done by cosmetologists before the event starts. We are also planning future activities, including visiting the Chocolate Factory in Salt Lake City, riding the Heber Creeper, and visiting the Zoo.

Price

Our Price Opportunity Center hosts many of the same events as the Vernal and Roosevelt locations but also offers unique ones as well, including:

• Attending Utah State University basketball games 
• Enjoying Utah Jazz basketball games
• Watching Salt Lake Bees baseball games
• Attending Grizzlies hockey games
• Planning exciting camping trips
• Enjoying festive holiday events

Orem

The Orem Opportunity Center offers several daily and monthly activities for our participants. Currently, individuals are taking a monthly Adaptive Arts class with Scera Theater and attending a presentation of “The Frog and The Toad.” They are learning life skills, such as working in an office, using the local bus system, making grocery lists, and going grocery shopping. Other activities and events this year include:

• Fitness activities
• Cupcake decorating classes
• Weather station activities
• Basketball Camp at Utah Valley University
• Utah Valley University baseball games
