Start the School Year Off Right With RISE After School Programs

As summer break comes to a close, the new school year brings fresh opportunities for learning and growth. For parents of children and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), finding the right support after school hours can make all the difference in creating a new rhythm. At RISE Services, Inc. Utah, our AIM (Achieve, Inspire, Motivate) after-school program is here to help carry the joy and learning of summer into the school year.

After-School Program for Disabled Kids

What Is the AIM After School Program?

AIM isn’t merely childcare. Students spend all day in a structured school environment, so AIM is intentionally designed to be different. We create an engaging and active social atmosphere where children and youth with IDD under the age of 22 can thrive.

Each RISE Services, Inc. Utah location offers our after-school program on different days and times. The fun lasts for three to four hours each day. Kids enjoy group activities within Opportunity Centers and out in the community, so they can expect adventure, exploration, social engagement, and hands-on learning.

Why Choose AIM for Your Child?

AIM offers a variety of benefits tailored to the unique needs of youth with IDD. Here’s what sets it apart:

1. Skills Development

You don’t need to be in a school classroom to learn. We focus on helping young people learn life skills in a joyful environment. STEM-focused activities encourage curiosity, while physical fitness activities promote health and well-being.

2. Social Skill-Building

Developing social skills in a supportive environment is at the core of AIM. Through group projects, team games, and community engagement, children learn to interact confidently with peers and adults alike. Friendships formed during the program often lead to meaningful connections and help prevent feelings of isolation.

3. Behavioral Supports and Accessibility

Our mission at RISE Services, Inc. Utah is to provide opportunities for and with people. That’s why, while acknowledging the diverse needs of each child with IDD, we incorporate behavioral supports. Our goal is that each individual can feel safe, encouraged, and respected.

AIM is accessible to a broad range of families. Youth don’t need to live in a RISE home to participate. We also provide transportation options to make it easier for parents and caregivers.
