Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) Week takes place each September, and during this time, RISE Services, Inc. Utah wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to all DSPs who teach, assist, encourage, and support individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Join us as we share some of the many ways our amazing DSPs support children and adults with disabilities and their families.

Join RISE Utah as We Honor Our Dedicated DSPs

After School Programs

In RISE Services, Inc. Utah’s After School programs, DSPs work with children and youth to further develop skills they have learned throughout the school day. Working with their teachers, DSPs may assist children in reviewing areas that need extra attention, such as spelling or subtraction. Our DSPs also provide fun, recreational activities for children with disabilities for two reasons. First, we don’t want their time spent in the program to feel like another day at school, and, second, so they have time during each session to practice social skills and build friendships.

Supported Living

When adults living with a disability can live on their own but require hourly in-home support, the DSPs at RISE Services, Inc. Utah are ready to help and assist where needed. Different individuals have unique needs based on their diagnoses, personal preferences, and living arrangements. DSPs support individuals in specific areas according to their personalized plan. This may include light housekeeping, cooking, grocery shopping, budgeting, personal care, community services, and more.

Opportunity Centers

RISE Services, Inc. Utah DSPs play a crucial role in providing support through Opportunity Centers also known as Day Service Programs. They work alongside adults with developmental disabilities to help them develop essential life and work skills in a safe and encouraging environment. DSPs take the time to understand each individual’s unique abilities, interests, and goals, tailoring their guidance to foster independence and personal growth. Whether it’s through job training, creative hobbies, or community involvement, DSPs help individuals apply their skills to all aspects of life, empowering them to live more fulfilling and productive lives.
